True story: I’ve gotten my truck stuck in the same sandy desert spot on TWO different occasions. First time I didn’t know any better. Second time I thought it would be different. It wasn’t. Both times I needed help. Much like in my truck adventures, the help I have received in my life has helped me understand who I am and now it inspires me to support others in their journey.
I have the privilege of supporting numerous couples, teens, and individuals, and I take an approach that is warm, constructive, and collaborative. Drawing from multiple therapeutic approaches, our time together is spent understanding who you are, what is getting you stuck, and exploring what it may take to get you where you want to be. I utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an attachment-based approach that focuses on how relationships influence us. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to explore how re-writing your beliefs can help you get closer to living out who you truly are. Additionally, I specialize in sexual addiction therapy, having been trained by an organization founded by Patrick Carnes, a recognized leader in addiction recovery.
Yes, therapy requires you to work and be committed; however, I believe a judgement-free place where you can safely be yourself can also be fun, creative, and light hearted (laughing and humor is OK!). Even during my previous careers in corporate engineering and vocational ministry, I have seen how relationships built on safety can be restorative.
In addition to enjoying life with my wife and two teenage kids, my spare time is spent cooking, playing Ultimate Frisbee, mountain biking, fixing broken things, or playing guitar as loud as possible! I would be honored to meet you and see how I might be able to support you.
